I was watching last week's episode of The Vampire Dairies as I don't ever miss an episode and I have to say The CW has shown it's anti-gay political colors yet again. A character from the series of books the Vampire Diaries is based was introduced to the TV series and their gayness was completely written out of the character. The vampire, Sage, in the books is a long lost love interest of Damon who happens to be a guy but in the series he was totally rewritten to be a female love interest.
I am really getting tired of the CW who totes themselves as being a network for young people excluding the LGBT community from their television programming. I know what you are thinking: "What about Eric on Gossip Girl?" He was the one glimmer of hope but after the first season his character came out of the closet The CW wrote him into the background of the show as if he was a piece of furniture on the set. They always made sure he was a very small part and didn't discuss his sexuality much at all.
Now The CW blatantly gave us the middle finger by rewriting this character so none of the active "family" hate groups that have been getting sponsorship pulled for shows would turn their sites on them. Very cowardly and hateful move on The CW's part.
